June 10, 2017 - Written by Jim Parker for the Charleston Post & Courier - A lake to lure sightseers, anglers and paddling aficionados is emerging in one of the larger new villages east of the Cooper.
Carolina Park recently noted the addition of the "significant amenity." Set to debut in 2018, 20-acre Bolden Lake will serve as a dynamic gathering spot and the centerpiece of the Riverside custom homes community, the master-planned village notes.
"Creating a body of water this large is obviously a major undertaking, and it's something that has been in the works for quite a while," says Brian Keels, marketing director at Carolina Park. "To see it taking shape and coming into focus is exciting for everybody -- especially our residents."
Bolden Lake will be a centerpiece for Riverside, the community's custom neighborhood featuring Lowcountry-inspired luxury homes built by seven top-notch area builders. The lake will boast a collection of amenities, including expansive boardwalk, kayak and canoe launch, island and multi-use path along the water's edge.
"People are excited about the idea of being able to go and just hang out near the lake, paddle around in their kayak, or go fishing with their kids -– all right here within the community they call home." Keels says. "That's something that really sets Riverside apart. It's a true custom homes community, but it offers residents the amenities and advantages of a master-planned community."
He says half of Riverside's 545 acres are permanently preserved, making the custom neighborhood an ideal setting for people who enjoy spending time outdoors "in a beautiful natural setting."
Carolina Park recently introduced its newest Riverside enclave, the exclusive 27-homesite Bolden Grove. Named for two groves of dense woodlands that frame the neighborhood, Bolden Grove will be a gateway to the new lake and within easy biking or walking distance of all of Carolina Park's amenities.
"Bolden Grove has been extremely well-received," says Haley Cuzzell, community sales manager at Carolina Park. "Our initial sales have outpaced expectations, and nearly half of the home sites have already been sold," she says.
"With Carolina Park Elementary School and Oceanside Collegiate Academy both set to open in the fall, the tremendous progress on Bolden Lake and everything else that's happening in the community, people are excited. They see that we're doing something special here and they want to be part of it," Cuzzell says.
Set on more than 1,700 acres, Carolina Park is located off U.S. Highway 17 in northern Mount Pleasant. The master-planned community offers a diverse range of home designs in its two neighborhoods, The Village and Riverside.
"Our goal from the start has been to create a community that’s special today, and will be just as special 50 years from now," Keels says. "From the region's best schools to a full-service hospital to an unparalleled collection of amenities, our objective is to execute every facet of Carolina Park to the highest possible level," he says. "Bolden Lake fits that criteria. It will give our residents something else that's truly special and unique to Carolina Park -– something they won't find in any other Mount Pleasant community."
