February 18, 2017 - Mt. Pleasant, SC - Among the largest master-planned communities in East Cooper, Carolina Park reached its peak for residential deals in 2016, notching 190 home sales last year while pushing the overall sales to more than 600 since the village opened.
“Carolina Park has emerged as one of the most successful communities in the region,” says Brian Keels, development director at Carolina Park. “Last year we saw tremendous growth throughout the community which is the result of a number of factors: Thoughtful planning, an exceptional team of eight award-winning builders and a commitment to stay focused on the things that set us apart,” he says.
The gathering of new neighborhoods says it emphasizes quality education and the creation of a “knowledge hub” within the sprawling property. By early 2018, Carolina Park will house five top-rated area schools. They are Wando High School, the Center for Advanced Studies at Wando and The Children’s Center and two locales under construction, Carolina Park Elementary School and Oceanside Collegiate Academy. Also, work will begin later this year on a new public library next to Wando High.
“People always talk about the top-ranked schools,” says Haley Cuzzell, community sales manager. “But, even beyond the schools, when people visit, they’re always impressed by what they find; the amenities, the variety of home styles, the charming Lowcountry architecture and the natural beauty of the property. It’s an appealing combination that’s hard to find anywhere else,” she says.
Carolina Park continues to expand its residential property offerings and corresponding amenities. Construction launched recently on Merrill Gardens at Carolina Park, a senior living community to showcase 130 apartment homes and 12 freestanding cottages. According to promoters, Merrill Gardens will cater to seniors living an active lifestyle and those requiring assisted living and memory care.
“From the beginning, we’ve been committed to delivering a well-rounded and vibrant community,” Keels says. “That means offering high quality educational opportunities," he says, but also creating an environment that’s inclusive and connective. Keels says "it’s easy for new neighbors to get to know each another." Carolina Park stands as "a place with trails, parks and gathering spots where people can spend time together.”
Cuzzell says the master-planned community introduced a number of new neighborhoods last year as well as a new fire-police station, outdoor pavilion and Great Lawn at the Residents Club. Along with new schools and a library in the works this year, the property will roll out new neighborhoods in The Village and Riverside enclaves. " It’s going to be very exciting, and we think home buyers will agree,” she says.
Carolina Park backers expect the community to experience "even greater success" in 2017 than last year's record-setting 12 months.
“We’ll continue to strive to provide our residents with choices and experiences that create a rich, dynamic lifestyle they won’t find anywhere else,” Keels says. “We want to make sure that Carolina Park is a special place to live now, and 50 years from now,” he says.
Carolina Park sits off U.S. Highway 17 North in Mount Pleasant. In addition to top-ranked schools, the property also absorbs Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital, two churches and miles of trails for hiking and biking, marketers say. The community features townhomes, cottage homes and single-family properties and custom homes from eight premier builders. Homes in the Village area start in the $300,000s. Houses in Riverside, which include custom models, range from the $600,000s to more than $1 million.
