April 9, 2019 – Mt. Pleasant, SC  - Carolina Park, widely recognized as the region’s premier master planned community, announced today the news that two more businesses have solidified plans to make Carolina Park their home.

Not long after the highly-anticipated opening of the area’s newest Costco store, CVS Pharmacy, one of the nation’s largest pharmacy and health care retailers, has finalized plans to build a new location in Carolina Park. CVS, which operates more than 9,600 stores in 49 states across America, will begin construction this spring on the new store at the intersection of Faison Rd. and Highway 17. No date has been set for the opening.

Carolina Park Academy Preschool also announced plans to open their doors in Carolina Park this August. The former Children’s Center location is being refurbished and will provide nurturing childcare and educational programs in a play-based setting for children ages 12 months through 5 years old. The Academy will be open year-round, and in addition to the all day and year-round programs will offer half-day and “school year” schedules for 3 and 4 year olds.

Carolina Park Academy founders include Gary Lawson, his daughter Libby Wachter, and her husband Matt Wachter. They saw the opportunity to compliment Carolina Park’s “Knowledge Hub,” a collection of educational resources that include Wando High School, The Wando Center for Advanced Studies, Oceanside Collegiate Academy charter high school, Carolina Park Elementary School and the soon-to-open Wando Mt Pleasant Public Library.

“The Carolina Park community and its residents have placed such a strong focus on education, we knew we wanted to be part of that,” the Wachters stated. “The opportunity to provide a quality preschool experience enhances the educational offerings available to local residents. Being here, with the new library and the elementary school so close by, will provide all sorts of exciting opportunities for our kids.”

Ms. Wachter holds a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Boston College, and she and her husband have three children who attend Carolina Park Elementary.

Already home to a growing number of businesses including a veterinarian clinic, medical offices, Merrill Gardens Senior Living Center, and more, Carolina Park has emerged as one of the Lowcountry’s most sought-after addresses for residents and businesses alike.

“We’ve worked had to create an environment that provides an exceptional lifestyle for our homeowners and their families, and a thriving environment for businesses,” said Brian Keels, COO of Carolina Park Development. “CVS Pharmacy and Carolina Park Academy are two terrific additions, and will provide important services not just for residents of Carolina Park, but for the local community as a whole.”
